Autorenporträt
A New Mexico native and graduate of University of New Mexico, Kate was a secondary teacher in New Jersey and New Mexico. As Education Director for Animal Humane Association New Mexico and Watermelon Mountain Ranch Shelter, she and her assortment of performing blind and deaf dogs delivered her award-winning K-12 curriculums, You and Your Pet Are Forever, to thousands of classrooms, civic and social organizations across the state for many years. All of her books were nationally recognized by Dog Writers Association of America and Best Books USA. Each received 5-star ratings by Readers' Favorites. She and husband Wally have resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1965, enjoying the company of their varying number of loving, "thrown-away" pets. Her reason for writing? "I write to enlighten our caring Americans of the scandalous plight of the multitudes of abandoned and abused pets. Once aware, they can use their talents, resources and votes to improve and protect these precious lives. I write to make a difference!"
