Dr. Ilyas Ishqi was a prominent Persian and Urdu poet, writer, translator, broadcaster and critic from Pakistan. He received his PhD degree by writing a thesis on the influence of the West on Urdu poetry. He was associated with Radio Pakistan for a long time and retired as Controller of Programmes.
