Drew is a biracial young man struggling to fit in at his all-white school. He works to connect with those around him and is a constant victim of discrimination based on the color of his skin, his weight, and his social standing. Drew also faces a harsh reality and struggles deeply with his racial identity in his community. He feels like an outsider looking in, but when Drew and his family move into the city from his suburban neighborhood, he has hopes that being in a school where his peers look more diverse will be easier. Desperate to fit in, Drew tries making new friends but finds that he has less in common with this new community than he thought he might. Drew encounters a strong pushback from his classmates for seeming entitled and spoiled. He is an outcast in his new school for being different and targeted for not being "black enough." We find Drew at a crossroads and follow him into deep despair. His parents refuse to validate the reality Drew is facing; his brother is unable to help convince them of Drew's struggle. With nowhere to turn and nobody to listen to him, Drew finds himself in a steep downward spiral. He sees only one way out, until he unexpectedly meets Dr. Mind.
