The discharge of wastewater from antiquated, shallow, poorly used and overused septic tanks is a real health problem for the people of Niangon Lokoa, a community in a neighborhood of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Given the seriousness of the situation, it is urgent that the inhabitants of this neighborhood do something on their own, without waiting for government assistance. Their own survival depends on it. After the community diagnosis made by the populations themselves, solutions and an implementation plan, still applicable by themselves, has been established.
