INTRODUCTION A child's psyche is vulnerable to the core of it .The scope of development in psychological and social arena throughout a human's life, conceives niche pillared on the interactions of biological blueprints and environmental facets. Especially, the progress during the childhood ages, which demarcates the vulnerability towards the development of cognitions and psycho- social awareness, is noteworthy. This implies that the influence of learning through situational adjustments and conflicts during these ages is very impactful on children. Psychological tendencies in children towards any distressing event such as, peer rejection, plays an important role in manifestation of psychological disorders. These tendencies effect the adaptive functioning of individuals in a negative way. This can be explained by an instance, where a child, who has faced social rejection, is experiencing anger outbursts and violently attacks the peers. In such a situation, behavioural malfunctioning of the child is in concern due to the lack of adaptation functioning. Environmental or social aspects act as an obstruction, either as a consequence of unregulated psychological propensity or lack of adaptation during inappropriate events. The deprivation of healthy interpersonal relationships combined with negative self esteem in children can result in consistent negative mood biasness. The gradual progress of the mentioned traits summed up with unsuitable social aspects can lead to Depressive disorders. It becomes crucial to address issues, such as, psychological distress, emotional outbursts and lack in adaptive functioning, for the wellbeing of the child. Depression symptoms have not changed in the past decades. Although, the peripheral picture of causation of depressive symptoms has differed. There are rigorous interventions for alleviation, managing and reversing the symptoms. This study discusses about the causes of childhood depression as well as competent and promising psychotherapeutic plans for childhood depression that are based on cognitive- behavioural and psychodynamic perspectives.
