DRE STILL STANDING is an extraordinary story of how I emerged through overwhelming trials and jumped over hurdles that would crush the average person and cause them to throw in the towel. My Journey of making it through, and tackling 12 years on dialysis, facing cancer, having both of my kidneys removed, watching my Grandfather and my very good friend Aaron pass away from the same disease, and 1st being denied a kidney transplant and having to wait 18 months for a final decision, but finally being blessed to get that call from UCLA Transplant Team that a kidney was ready for me. You can overcome As you walk with me through this stormy journey, I will uncover the tremendous pain and courage it took to make it through. The year was 1993 I was a 17-year-old teenager who had just relocated from Detroit Michigan to California hoping to increase my athletic opportunities. I attended Royal High School in Simi Valley, and then transferred to Taft High School in Woodland Hills. I had broken numerous track and field records even pulling off the hat trick of becoming only the second male athlete since 1911 to win the 100, 200, and 400-meter sprints in the City Section Championships. Coming back strong and winning it again I became the 1st to ever win 100, 200, and 400-meter sprints in the City Section Championships. I was now TAFT HIGH SCHOOL'S STAR ATHLETE. After dominating the track and field industry my speed could not be questioned. That's when I was considered a blue-chip star athlete. I was recruited by almost every major university in the USA including UCLA, Oregon, USC, Arizona State, Alabama, Stanford, and the University of Washington. www.drestillstanding.org
