Born as Donald Dickson in Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1934, he grew up in the community of Cherokee City, Arkansas. He attended local schools and obtained a master's degree in English from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He now resides on a farm near Gentry, Arkansas and writes under the pseudonym of Keyth Dickson.
