Some active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) have penalizing physicochemical properties that considerably reduce their bioavailability. The aim of this study is to present biopolymer-based drug delivery systems (DDS) that can improve the bioavailability of APs, control their release and improve their benefit/risk ratio. This book is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, we present the advantages of SDMs. The second chapter presents the benefits of using cyclodextrin (CD) inclusion complexes (ICs) for PA encapsulation, and their preparation and characterization methods. We describe the current state of research into the encapsulation of some CDs. The third chapter focuses on the importance of polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) as PA vectors and their preparation and characterization methods. This chapter also presents some biopolymers widely used in NP synthesis. This book is aimed at students and researchers working in the field of developing new galenic forms.
