Alpha substituted hydroxyl amine in particular alkoxyphthalimides aminoxy and related derivatives are a class of compounds with the object of considerable interest due to their application in different field including pharmaceuticals. Combination of these two moieties in a molecule may cause appreciable modification in their biological behaviors and other life activities. This engendered the idea to synthesize a number of biologically active heterocycles containing this functionally. Present investigation forms a part of comprehensive task to develop new pathways, to obtain newer molecules and to screen their antimicrobial activity.
