Dry eye or dry eye syndrome is a multifactorial disorder of the tears and ocular surface resulting in symptoms of discomfort, visual disturbances and instability of the tear film with potential damage to the ocular surface. It can be isolated or associated with a systemic disease such as Gougerot-Sjögren syndrome. The results of our work allowed us to reach the following conclusions: the adult population over 40 years of age is the most affected with a prevalence of 75.9%, especially in the 50 to 59 year old age group, the sex ratio being clearly in favor of the female population. Paradoxical lacrimation and sandy sensation were the most characteristic complaints of dry eye.The most common mixed type. Menopause had a strong correlation with the occurrence of ocular syndromesec. Other factors such as contact lens wear, prolonged use of unprotected computer monitors, air conditioning and blepharitis were associated with the risk of dry eye.
