The Big Storm is the first book in the Dump Truck Dave series of children's picture books by first-time author Mike Kaye. Having brought up two boys, Mike noticed there was a lack of children's picture books for preschoolers that featured diggers, dozers, and dump trucks. And such stories are what a lot of preschoolers are interested in. To gain ideas for stories, Mike decided to go and work on a mine, driving a six-wheel-drive dump truck. All the books in the Dump Truck Dave series will touch on such topics as bullying, gender equality, teamwork, and community.
