Duxbury College tells the story of Daniel Tomlinson, a biology professor for thirty-three years at a small liberal arts college in central Vermont, who has experienced an eventful life: the tragic deaths of a colleague and his first wife in childbirth, the murder of one of his students, finally the result of a sordid affair he experienced while in graduate school is revealed by a surprise visitor as he enters retirement from his academic life. The author has woven the story-in part from his own experiences at Bucknell University, and also from fictitious events that transcend the supposed quiet lives that most professors lead in their ivory tower world. Most of the characters in this novel are based wholly or in part on colleagues, friends and family members of the author. The author has used discretion in using the given names of family members and the names of other characters in telling his story. Many are purely fictitious and fabrications of his own imagination.
