The book is based upon intensive field work in one of the poorest regions of South Asia,as poverty is extremely high in Thuamul Rampur tribal dominated block of Kalahandi district of Odisha in India.The book suggests that there should beconvergence of programmes by empowering the SHGs and PRIs to enhance the effectiveness of these programmes in the poverty zone of rural India.

Dr.Gadadhara Mohapatra has a doctoral degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University,New Delhi in 2010.Currently,he is a Post Doctoral Fellow at Institut für Soziologie,Albert-Ludwigs- Universität Freiburg,Germany.He has served as a Research Officer in various projects at Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi.
