With the global upheaval since 2020, Virtual Education has taken on a critical importance in the present times. In many countries, it has become the only option for teachers and students to move forward. The evaluation of e-learning programs is a fundamental element for the development and improvement of training actions in this modality, which has a direct impact on its quality since it verifies the achievement of the proposed objectives. This publication presents the state of the art of e-learning evaluation systems, both in the USA and Europe, as well as in Latin America. The evaluation models and their evaluation criteria are analyzed. Then, a self-evaluation model based on good practices for organizations that carry out e-learning programs in the subcontinent is presented. Finally, the results of the application of the self-evaluation instrument in different universities in Latin America are presented and conclusions are drawn.
