This research was to explore how to use learning
objects to teach the topic of decimals to a group of
ten-year old students.
There were 2 groups of 59 students. One group was
the control where they were taught using the
traditional method of whiteboard while the other
group used the learning objects to help them in their
concept building.
There was a pre and post test to find out how much
they have learnt using both methods.
The results shows that the use of learning objects
was a good teaching tool to be complemented with
traditional teaching and learning methods. For both
classes, there was an improvement in score from the
pre-test that was carried out. When the results were
compared, it was found that the group who used the
learning objects scored comparably well with the
other group who used the traditional method of
learning. Both the classes did not do significantly
better than each other.
