A kommunista korszakban n¿tt fel, megtanulta értékelni a demokráciát és a szabadságot. A kommunizmus árnyékában a Légihíd csak egy suttogott téma volt. A fantasztikus vállalkozás körüli rejtély még vonzóbbá tette a Légihíd és a hidegháború rejtett eseményeit a szemében. Szenvedélyes és lelkes, figyelmét a hidegháborús korszak felé fordította, amely hatással volt az életére.
