Together with a substantial body of free-verse poems, there is a selection of short pieces - Langford is also an aphorist - and a collection of prose meditations: on broad-ranging aspects of both classical and rock, and on the stubborn differences between ears tuned to rock, and those tuned to jazz. Eardrum should delight anyone who enjoys good writing about an art-form that is proverbially difficult to write about. Martin Langford has published seven books of poetry, the most recent of which are The Human Project: New and Selected Poems, and Ground. He is co-editor (with J. Beveridge, J, Johnson and D. Musgrave) of Contemporary Australian Poetry, and editor of Harbour City Poems: Sydney in Verse 1788-2008. In 2018, he published the collectino of aphorisms, Neat Snakes.
