Born in Harrisburg, Illinois, Christy Shackleford has been married to husband Jon Shackleford for thirty-nine years. They are blessed with two children: Jeremiah Daniel Ammon and Jonna Christine Shackleford. At thirty years old, she started college at Southern Illinois University--Carbondale, and graduated with a bachelor of music degree majoring in classical piano and minoring in education. She worked at Crab Orchard Community District #3 in Marion, Illinois, teaching K-12 music. After leaving there, she taught third grade at Equality Christian Center School in Equality, Illinois. In 2013 she moved to Marion, Kentucky, recently retiring from Crittenden County Animal Clinic.
