Why the presence of the Church in a hospital environment! It would seem a question that so many people are asking. In fact, this brochure elucidates a few reasons for this presence. It is about the pastoral aspect of the mission of the Church: the pastoral care of health. Jesus came into this world doing good, He healed the sick. This mission has been entrusted to THE CHURCH. It therefore pursues this mission. For this, she must find a form of presence to accompany all the patients for whom she is now responsible. A presence that is not only done in an ordinary way within the parish through the administration of the sacraments of the sick, visiting the sick on Sunday but going to meet the isolated sick in a hospital environment. This form of presence will make it possible to comfort the sick, to strengthen their faith and to bring them material and spiritual help so that they recover the health of their soul and their body. This explains the raison d'être of hospital chaplainciesand chapels within hospitals. This presence would help guide the patient in the choice of therapeutic routes.
