Cathy D. Soto, Ph.D., is a lifelong educator who retired from El Paso Community College after serving for 14 years as program coordinator of the Medical Assisting Program, where she taught all 12 courses including the ECG course. Prior to that, she taught part time for eight years in EPCC's Computer Information Systems Department while also teaching computer programming and medical administrative classes full time as a secondary educator. Dr. Soto taught full time as a secondary educator for a total of 17 years. In addition, she has owned and operated her own business -- Global Education Company -- since 1985. A successful grant writer, Dr. Soto wrote and administered a state grant under the "self-sufficiency welfare to work" program and was funded for $64,500 for the EPCC MA program. A proud veteran, she was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving four years as a medical assistant during the Vietnam era. Additionally, Dr. Soto has an extensive volunteer and community service background, most notably serving on the Regional Girl Scout Board of Directors for three terms (12 years) and one term on her church finance council (three years).
