Orison S. Marden ist der Begründer des amerikanischen Magazin-Welterfolges Success, einer der bis heute erfolgreichsten Wirtschaftspublikationen. Bis zu seinem Tod 1924 leitete er dieses Magazin und gilt als Vordenker aller modernen Bücher zur Selbstmotivation. Marden verbrachte seine Jugend in einfachsten Verhältnissen ohne Schule und jede Ausbildung. Sein Studium in Harvard finanzierte er sich selbst. Sein eigener Lebensweg wurde zum Vorbild für seine Selbsthilfe-Bücher, mit denen er zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts bereits Millionen Leser erreichte.
