The growing globalization of economies is largely driven by the remarkable growth of information and communication technologies. These new technologies have not only accelerated the pace of information flow, but have also confronted states and companies with an overabundance of information whose scope and relevance require the implementation of an economic intelligence system. Thus, our book has three main objectives. First, we determine the fundamentals of business intelligence. Then, we describe the three functions of business intelligence: (1) the intelligence function, (2) the protection function, and (3) the influence function. Finally, we identify the main tools for conducting intelligence.
