Slums are characterized by overcrowded living conditions, unsanitary surroundings, and a lack of basic amenities such as garbage and sewage disposal (latrine) facilities, lack of good water facilities, low-quality housing construction, water and lack of ventilation, road and electricity facilities, congestion, and small house sizes. The current study focuses on many elements of slum development in Tirupattur district. This book gives an overall picture on the socio-economic conditions of slum dwellers in Tirupattur district of Tamil Nadu, India.
