Aonla is an important arid fruit having vast potential to grow under wide range of agro-climatic conditions. The commercial cultivation of aonla has been extended to large acreage of problematic soils covering Northern, Central and Western parts of India. Among all the traditional cultivated varieties of aonla Banarasi, Chakaiya and Francis have occupied the maximum area of plantation. The most of the old plantation of aonla fruit belts are declining and showing poor productivity and poor quality of fruits. The sole cause of declination in production and quality is due to poor orchard management and overage trees. Thus, there is dire need to improve the health and production of senile orchards through application of rejuvenation technology. The practice of pruning supplemented with balanced doses of nutrients has been found very beneficial to improve the yield and fruit quality. This monograph contains the recommendations for improving the aonla fruit production, productivity andquality on the basis of research findings.
