This research shows the analysis of the treatment of the LGBTI theme in the Ecuadorian films "Feriado" and "El Secreto de Magdalena", in order to learn more about how the LGBTI community is presented through national cinematography, within the social context of the country. In this way, it is essential to mention that both films are produced and released at the height of the world cinema boom that addresses the subject, but in the country, the reality is different, and the aforementioned films are the first fiction films released to address this type of stories. Cinema as a producer of images, discourses, meanings and representations, has become a tool to enter in a sensitive way, generating different emotions and questions in the viewer, building different subjectivities that revolve around social mediations. Since its inception, cinema has become a contribution to the preservation of historical memory, from documentary to fiction, have witnessed moments of great global and social relevance.
