This study focuses primarily on architectural and interior design in Edgar Allan Poe's Gothic fiction. Poe's Gothic is one of ciphers and codes, octagonal red rooms and decaying walls. A fantasia of entrapment that exceeds the ordinary limited space. His houses breathe, expand and encrust their inhabitants. And it is not just a mathematical disorder...the architecture of every space is carefully chosen to match the personality of its owner. Poe's space is an aesthetic movement.
