Fernando Assis dos Santos nació en Colombia y creció en la ciudad de Sorocaba, en el interior de São Paulo. Es licenciado en Geografía, Máster y Doctor en Educación por la Universidad de Sorocaba - UNISO. Investigador en el campo de la educación y las ciudades, trabaja como profesor de geografía en escuelas primarias, secundarias y terciarias estatales y privadas.
