The current context of promoting Sustainable Development calls for a reframing of environmental education. The present essay starts from the observation that students do not always demonstrate so-called ecological behaviors at a time when educational policies are opting for an approach based on integrated modules of Education for Sustainable Development in the training curricula. The descriptive approach adopted is based on the valorization of the bibliography on Education for Sustainable Development and the analysis of the contents of the strategic documents elaborated by UNESCO. Our plea is addressed to the actors of the educational chain so that, in the face of multiple crises, the school remains the crucible of eco-citizenship. We suggest the establishment of a "green school" or "eco-school" label, the materialization of which will require the mobilization of all school disciplines, experimental approaches in the natural environment and evaluations which, far from being a reminder of what the student has memorized beforehand, will rather be means of verifying what he or she has really handled, experimented and practiced.
