Mark S. Johnson is Lecturer at the School of Education, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. He has worked in the fields of the history of education and contemporary educational studies. Peter N. Stearns is University Professor of History at George Mason University, USA. He has written widely on world history and the history of childhood; his Childhood in World History is now in its 4th edition. His earlier work addressed educational change in the West and Japan.
