The aim of this thesis is to trace the proposals and uses of the image for children's education from the mid-17th century to the beginning of the 20th century, specifically from Comenius' Orbis Sensualium Pictus (1658) to the enthronement of "objective teaching". The subject will be analyzed in the interweaving of pedagogical prescriptions, editorial processes (technical, material and commercial) and the social history of the use of the image for education, teaching, the educational, the visual and the graphic.
