Alison Smith is Director of Collections and Research at the Wallace Collection, London, and former Chief Curator at the National Portrait Gallery, London. Previously published works include: Charles III: The Making of a King (National Portrait Gallery, 2023), Edward Burne-Jones (Tate Publishing, 2018), and Reflections: Van Eyck and the Pre-Raphaelites (Yale University Press, 2017). Knut Ljøgodt, is Founding Director at The Nordic Institute, Norway. Previously published works include: Peder Balke: Sublime North. Works from the Gundersen Collection (Skira Editore, 2020), Paintings by Peder Balke (The National Gallery, 2015), and Romantic Visionaires: Balke, Lucas, Hertervig (Centro de Estudios Europa Hispánica 2023).
