The metallic pollutants in the atmosphere, soil and water can cause serious problems to all organisms and needs more attention on this. The metallic pollutants in the atmosphere, soil and water can cause serious problems to all organisms and needs more attention on this. Among the metallic pollutants, cadmium is one of the most toxic, non- essential heavy metal with many industrial uses which contributes to a well-defined spectrum of diseases in animal models as well as in humans. Over the past two centuries, anthropogenic and industrial activities have led to high emissions of cadmium into the environment at concentrations significantly exceeding those originating from natural sources. Cadmium has the ability to accumulate in the tissues of living organisms and biotransforms from producers to consumers in a food web ultimately affecting the human beings. This may cause serious effects on the ecological balance of the recipient environment. The present investigation is a small foray into the broad area of toxicology. A small step towards this, the present work was carried out to study the heavy metal cadmium induced alterations in hematological, biochemical and bioaccumulation levels in liver and kidney tissues of Wistar strain male albino rats.
