This study investigated the effect of plasma nitriding and titanium carbonitriding on the wear resistance of tools used in the mechanical forming of special fasteners. The main focus is on the rate of abrasive wear, characterized by particle friction between the surfaces of the raw material and the forming tool. Three tools were selected for application of plasma nitriding treatment and titanium carbonitride coating, of which two had excessive wear before the layers were applied and one had premature fracture. It was found that the surface treatments and coatings resulted in a significant…mehr

It was found that the surface treatments and coatings resulted in a significant increase in wear resistance, as well as a significant decrease in the breakage of other tool components due to their lubricating action, especially in the case of the coating with a gas mixture containing carbonitride and titanium.
