The mental retardation is sub average intellectual functioning leading to decreased skill in all spheres of life. Physical fitness and motor development are not affected by mental retardation but the limited opportunity, instruction and participation in physical activity are the culprit Play is an instinct for normal as well as challenged children. And it is the responsibility of the society to provide proper opportunity to play, to participate in physical activity to Mentally Challenged Children. Benefits of exercise in general population, have been studied, but there is paucity of research to understand how exercise can benefits the mentally Challenged. Research focusing on such groups would not only benefit the mentally Challenged population but to all who take care of them.
