Day by day area under guava (Psidium guajava L.) cultivation is increasing and facing the problem of quality planting material for fruit growers. Guava can be propagated through seedlings, air layering and grafting. Since long farmers are planning their orchard through seedling, which cannot give true to type characteristics. Air-layering is also a commercially viable and popular method among growers with limited numbers. Due to fluctuated climatic conditions success is a major problem for growers not only during layering operation but also after detachment from mother plant. Hence, air-layering can give limited number of plant. Grafting in guava is a newer concept with limited popularity among nurseryman. Looking to the various benefits of grafting it looks feasible to commercialize for getting newer saplings. Wedge grafting will help nurseryman to produce more number of uniform and healthy guava saplings. This will also help to increase area under guava.
