It portrays the effect of Food Based Iron Intervention on Hematological Parameters of Pregnant Women. Nutritional adequacy is one of the key elements before, during and after pregnancy for support of foetal growth. To preserve maternal and foetal stores and also prevent the development of iron deficiency, iron intake should be increased. To meet the increased iron intake she has to take additional supplement either through synthetic or food based iron tablet. Iron rich powder was prepared from lotus stem and rice bran, matching groups were given synthetic and food based tablets and results were at par Hence inclusion of these tablets is helpful in reducing anaemia among pregnant women without any side effect.
