The Effect of Municipal Solid Waste Dump sites on Soil Quality in Osisioma Ngwa, Abia State was investigated. Soil samples (0-20cm) were collected from two dump sites and the control collected 35m away from the dump sites. The samples were digested with Conc. HNO3 and HClO4; Pb, CU, Mn, Cd, Cr, Fe, Ni, P, Na, K, Mg and Ca were determined using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, N was determined using the Kjeldhal method, the physiochemical parameters were determined using standard methods. Data were analyzed statistically using correlation, level of significance, standard deviation and coefficient of variation measured in percentage. The mean concentration of Pb, Cu, Cd, Cr, Ni, N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and Na in Umuaduru dump site (ST1) were; (1183, 3133, 4550, 416, 3783, 4383, 1216, 586, 31, 3394, 8, 2620 and 14.12)ppm respectively while the mean of these parameters in Umuehilegbu dump site (ST2) were, (1666, 3700, 4016, 633, 4333, 4483, 1500, 1082, 41, 6434, 13, 3666, and 28)ppm respectively. The results showed a significant difference between the concentrations of all the parameters studied in the dump sites and the control (P0.05).
