Jasmine (Jasminum sambac L.) is a popular species in the genus jasmine and the national flower of Indonesia where it is known as melti and the Philipines where it is know assampaguita. It jasmine is a very popular flower in the world especially in the tropics due to its unique fragrance. Jasmine is native to tropical and warm or temperate regions of the old world. Jasmine flower are white in most species, with some species being yellow. The Jasmine is believed to have originated in the Himalyas in Western China.
