Water is precious, limited resources, has no substitute. Hence, reuse of treated wastewater has to be practiced wherever it is feasible. Construction industry is the one which is being consumed huge volume of fresh water. However, significant research work is carried out on partial replacement of cement with industrial by-products which have pozzolana property. But literature search indicates that, not much research work is carried out on the quality of mixing water in concrete, and there are no detailed guide lines are framed in codes. In the recent years, attention has been focused on the reuse of wastewater, although previous research has been performed on the use of treated or partially treated wastewater from the industries for making concrete and reported that no adverse affects on concrete properties in fresh and hardened state. However, before using non potable water in concrete or mortar, effect of constituents of wastewater is to be studied on cement. Major percentage of constituents' in industrial wastewater is metals. Hence, in the present research work, effect of pollutants in mixing water on properties of cement was studied.
