Generation of industrial waste materials such as fly ash and slag in bulk provides an opportunity to convert these wastes into an eco-friendly value-added product. Geopolymer materials, which are not only strong and environmental friendly was synthesized by forming a mixture of geopolymer resin with an alkaline activator until they are visibly homogenous. However, there are no established technology to produce geopolymer materials with specific ranges of pore size opening and there is lack of attention given in using organic pore forming agents. The main goal of this research was to investigate the potential use of organic additives to produce geopolymer materials with variable pore sizes to be used as potable water treatment membrane.
