The Reinforced Concrete Structures (RCC) are expected to serve its functionality throughout its intended design life. However some structures show early signs of deterioration which can be due to the use of sub-graded construction materials, design failures, improper workmanship or any other reason. As the construction cost is very high these days, it becomes uneconomical to replace the old existing structure by the new one. The solution to this is the word "Retrofitting" which simply means to strengthen the existing structures which may help to increase the service life of the structures. This book is an experimental approach towards the use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) in Retrofitting of RCC structures as replacement of conventional methods for Retrofitting like Jacketing, Stitching members, etc. After the 2001 Bhuj earthquake in India, several Retrofitting measures were adopted to rebuild the damaged structures and out of those, use of CFRP in heavy structures proved to be one of the most effective measure. Researches are still carried on, even by government authorities, to suggest the further applications of CFRP as Retrofitting measure for RCC structures.
