Machakos County is one of the 47 counties in Kenya where the Government has implemented strategies to reduce poverty. The County has poverty level of 59.6 %. Second, the girl child enrolment and completion rate in primary school have the largest impact in improving the quality of life in the County. Third, only secondary school enrolment was likely to improve quality of households. . Fourth, none of the conventional pro-poor programmes were likely to improve the quality of life.
