Lake Tana have about 15 unique fish species of Cyprinidae family which is endemic to our planet. Unfortunately these fish species face danger of extinction due to human activities at their breeding ground. Belay Abdissa was born in Harer, Ethiopia, on May 1968. In 1991 he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology at Asmara University of Eritrea. He obtained in July 2009 a Master of Science degree in Biology (Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences) from the Department of Biology of Addis Ababa University. He is married and has two daughters.
