Writing is one of the fundamental macro skills in language studies which requires students develop direct and clear interaction through process-based approach and product-based approach to learn the skill. In the process-based approach, students will be asked to explore, plan, draft and revise, whereas in the product-based approach, they are expected to produce meaningful and communicative essays. The skill is one of the most mandatory but difficult activities in the academic area as it requires dealing with certain conventions. The problems students face are enlarged by the time they write under. This paper presents the impact of time on the performance of 60 students of Mekelle College of Teachers Education with respect to the four objectives formulated by the researcher. To validate the results obtained from these students, their teachers were interviewed. Based on the finding from the analysis of the data gathered from these subjects, actions to be taken in order to minimize the bad consequences of the problem identified have been suggested.
