Seminar paper from the year 2024 in the subject Education - Reading Instruction, grade: grade two, , language: English, abstract: This text aims to provide teachers, parents, and educational experts with insights into effective strategies for teaching reading skills to children, especially in the context of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It emphasizes the importance of phonological awareness and word recognition and introduces an innovative parent seminar-workshop model at Bentuco Elementary School. In an era where the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted the global education system, this paper highlights the critical importance of early reading instruction. Focusing on Bentuco Elementary School, it explores the challenges and solutions in the reading teaching process for students, parents, and teachers. The implementation of a parent seminar-workshop aimed at imparting reading skills, supported by learning activity sheets, presents a hands-on approach to assessing and enhancing students' reading proficiency. This methodology, focusing on phonological awareness and word recognition, showcases a pioneering approach to addressing educational challenges in the new normal.
