The investigation aimed at finding out how teacher-student ratio affects classroom learning and how far the teachers in Universal Secondary Schools employed instructional materails.Thus, it investigated the extent to which teachers used teaching materials,instructional time, effective methods, assessment, feedback, interaction and their class load to effect teaching and learning. Through an effective research methodology use, this research discovered various shortcomings that are common else where in the world where Universal Secondary Education has been implemented. Then, the book puts forward possible teacher-student ratios,suggests solutions and recommendations for possible implemtation.

The author is a Sister of Mary of Kakamega. She has taught English /literature in both non and Universal secondary schools. She majored in English/Literature with a minor in CRE for her first Degree and her Masters Degree in Educational leadership at Walsh University. Her teaching experience in USE schools provoked her research on class size.
