The research aims to review the effectiveness of the methods used for teaching reading and writing in first grade, from the basic learning rights (DBA) designed by the Ministry of National Education (MEN) in 2015, in order to "ensure equity in the learning of all students" (MEN, 2017, p.3) and thus achieve educational quality where each person develops holistically. This study, recognizing the relevance of the development of communicative competence in students, takes as a reference the Language DBAs for first grade in relation to the appropriation of the written code and also seeks to establish some effective methodological elements for the teaching of reading and writing in first grade.
