The compatibility of apparel manufacturers depends on product standardization; technology; how advanced they are and whether they have the mental work-power to deal with the technology. The technologic development is not limited only with automation of the machinery on the production line but also includes processes before and after the production. In the study, the effects of different model characteristics of garments on fabric usage amount and cutting and sewing times have been investigated. Following the investigations of all factors and their degrees of effect, it was observed that a characteristic of a model is one of the important factors that affect the productivity and time in apparel company. The study provides that different model characteristics of garments is very important for fabric usage amount, cutting and sewing times. In apparel companies, after the model is formed, this method will be useful in; estimating cutting and sewing times; calculating the productivity; production planning and estimating delivery date.

Oksan Oral was born in Izmir-Turkey in 1971. She was graduated from Ege University The Department of Textile Engineering. She was awarded the degree of doctor of philosophy in 2003. She has scientific publications about textile and apparel fields. She works in Ege University Bergama Technical and Business College. She is married and has a doughter.
