Oil exploration is activity geared towards extraction of oil deposits from the ground for the purpose of determining its economic viability in terms of quantity, quality and character. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of oil exploration on the economy, environment and society of Turkana County a case of Lokichar-Ngamia 1, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to determine the economic, environmental and social effects of oil exploration in Turkana County. The study used descriptive survey design. The population consists of the residents of Lokichar who are affected by activities of oil exploration. The sample of the study was 384 respondents and data was collected by questionnaires. Data was analysed by the use statistical package for social science version 21 software and findings tabulated for ease interpretation. The study concluded that oil exploration has led to economic, social and environmental effects to the community. Economically, oil exploration has led to creation of job opportunities and improvement of road networks.
