This thesis provides information and analysis of the effects of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution 1956 on the Hungarian military higher education system. Providing a historical overview, the thesis sets up an understanding of the Hungarian military higher education's situation from its establishment until the end of WWII. The thesis explains the process of reestablishment and improvement of the system after WWII. This part provides large amounts of data from 1947 until 1956, setting up the comparison of the system before and after the revolution. It examines the educational institution's role during the days of the revolution, as well as how it affected the lives and careers of many instructors, military officers, and students. This thesis examines the military higher education's situation after the revolution. It provides information and large amounts of data, which serves to explain the changes, as well as, the short and long term effects caused by the revolution. This thesis analyzes many studies and provides interesting data regarding the system, the education institutions, instructors, students, and the Hungarian officers' corps. In summary, the reader can gain an insight into the Hungarian military higher education system during the wildest years of communism in Hungary, as well as the following decades.
